Core practice

Film & Video Rights Trading

We trade rights in film and video content. Selection, chain-of-title checks, licence negotiation, contracting and settlement — we can handle all of it, or just the part you need.

  • AI video assets
  • AI training data
  • Short-form drama
  • Film & TV titles

Product lines

Four product lines

The buyers, the way pricing works and the licensing cycles differ a lot across these four, so we run them separately. Typical licence structures and delivery times are listed below.

01

AI video assets

Licensing of AI-generated video assets for advertisers, short-video creators, and content platforms. Supplied in volume and licensed by package — suited to buyers with continuous creative burn.

License
By package or volume, typically non-exclusive
Typical buyer
Agencies, MCNs, content platforms
Delivery
7–15 business days
02

AI video training data

Licensing footage for training AI video models. We supply source material and structured annotation, and the licence states explicitly whether the footage may be used for model training. Leaving that unstated is what causes disputes later.

Licence
By duration or by clip, usually non-exclusive, training rights stated
Typical buyers
AI model developers, research teams, data vendors
Lead time
15–30 business days
03

Short-form drama

Acquisition and distribution of short-form drama from and into Chinese-speaking markets. Single titles or packaged slates, with subtitling, dubbing, and localized versions arranged in the license.

License
Exclusive or non-exclusive, splittable by territory
Typical buyer
Short-drama platforms, overseas distributors
Delivery
15–30 business days
04

Film & TV titles

Rights acquisition and licensing representation for features, series, and documentaries — new releases, library titles, and territory sub-licensing.

License
Split by window and territory
Typical buyer
Streaming platforms, broadcasters, inflight and theatrical
Delivery
30–60 business days

Services

Four things we can take on

You can hand over all four of these, or just one or two.

01 Acquisition and curation
We screen available content against your target market and budget, and deliver a shortlist with price ranges and licensing conditions attached.
02 License negotiation and contracting
We negotiate on either side of the table — territory, term, exclusivity, revenue share, payment cadence — and draft or review the agreement itself.
03 Distribution representation
We act as agent for rights holders, sourcing downstream buyers on a success-fee basis. Built for content owners with a slate but no market access.
04 Delivery and settlement
Master delivery, technical spec QC, invoicing, and collection follow-through until the account is closed.

Deal terms

Five terms worth settling in the contract

If any one of these is left vague it tends to cause trouble later, so we go through them one by one before signing.

Dimension Common options What to watch
Exclusivity Exclusive / non-exclusive / limited exclusive Exclusivity typically carries a 30–100% premium — be honest about your distribution reach first
Territory Single market / Greater China / worldwide Wider costs more, and any territory you acquire but never work is sunk cost
Term 1 / 3 / 5 years, or outright buyout Check renewal priority at expiry and what happens to delivered materials
Windows Theatrical / TVOD / SVOD / AVOD Window order and spacing determine total recoverable revenue per title
Settlement Flat buyout / MG plus revenue share / pure revenue share A revenue share without a stated reporting cadence and audit right is unenforceable in practice

Process

From enquiry to final payment, usually six steps

  1. 01

    Define the brief

Content type, target market, budget range, and required launch date.

  2. 02

    Shortlist and quote

A candidate slate with licensing conditions and price ranges.

  3. 03

    Chain-of-title diligence

Verify the rights chain, existing conflicting grants, and territory restrictions.

  4. 04

    Negotiate terms

Align on exclusivity, territory, term, revenue share, and payment cadence.

  5. 05

    Sign and deliver

Execute the license, deliver masters and supporting rights documentation.

  6. 06

    Settle and follow up

Reporting, invoicing, collection on the agreed cadence, plus renewal handling.
